A Tilda Charity Curry Lunch staged in support of members and families of its foodservice team has proved a success with diners - and helped to raise funds for three good causes.
Tilda was supported in the event by 3663, which provided the chicken and very importantly the customers, Premier Foods, (Sharwood's curry sauce and mini nann breads), RH Amar (Geeta mango chutney), Jellybean Creative Solutions (posters and communication) with Tilda supplying the all important rice and vegetables.
The menu for the lunch, which was held at the 3663 Development Kitchen in High Wycombe, was Vegetable Balti (with baby new potatoes, onion, chicken, spinach, mushrooms, peppers, aubergine) and Chicken Tikka Masala (with chicken breasts, spinach, onions, mushrooms). The diners were obviously impressed by the food on offer with one remarking that the "the vegetable curry is delicious" while another said simply "it smells divine!"
Sal Henley, Tilda's development chef who created the dishes for the lunch, said: "The event was to help three great causes and people appreciated that and so were very generous with their donations."
The lunch was held for the Tilda Foodservice team, some of whose members and families have suffered serious illnesses in recent years and they wanted to give something back to the charities and organisations that had encouraged them so well during their darkest days.
Mark Lyddy, Head of Foodservice for Tilda, said: "Some members of our foodservice team have had a tough time in recent years and we wanted to show our support for them with this charity lunch. Everybody enjoyed themselves and the food went down extremely well and we also raised money for good causes at the same time. I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to all of our supplier friends who contributed food toward the lunch and especially to 3663 and its staff for providing the facilities and customers who came and made it such a success on the day."
Contributions from the diners in appreciation of their meal meant the lunch generated more than £200 with a follow-up event boosting the amount raised to around £260. Tilda made a generous donation to push the total up to £500 so that each charity will benefit to the tune of almost £167.
The money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK, LATCH (Welsh Children's Cancer Charity) and The Plym Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit in Plymouth. |
